Brain Injury, One Doctor’s Personal Story

In 1980, when I was almost 12 years old, I was sitting in my 6 grade elementary school class and I was informed that my mom “got a little sick, and had to go to the hospital”. When we got to the hospital later that evening by mom’s head had been shaved and was wrapped in bandages, she was hooked up to tubes and machines and was in the intensive care unit.  Suffering from serious brain injury due to a massive brain aneurysm at 39 years old, she lived in a vegetative comatose state for the next 9 years and died at age 48.  I spent my teenage years feeling responsible for taking care of her and feeling helpless that I wasn’t doing enough.

I have carried that passion through my life and even today I still think “What could I have done to help her?” “And, if this were to happen today, what would I do differently?”

I have been a caregiver on the receiving end of healthcare with my Mother.  I too suffered a Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI) in 2012 and have experienced and overcome the symptoms and complications that go along with that.  I have been in the health care field for over 25 years now.  I have experience with the western medical approach as a Health Unit Coordinator in a cancer ward, I have been a nursing assistant in several clinical settings, and I have been a Nurse at Sister Kinney Institute in the Spinal Cord and Brain Injury unit.

In addition to my nursing experience, I have been practicing in the natural health care field for 18 years. I am a Doctor of Chiropractic, a Chiropractic Acupuncturist, a Massage Therapist and a Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist.  I utilize multiple modalities in my treatment protocol that have been phenomenal with helping with pain, headaches, dizziness, balance issues, ringing in the ears, neck pain, back pain, TMJ dysfunction, and other symptoms related to brain injury.

I understand where patients & their families are at because I’ve been there.  With my personal and work background and experience, I also understand the Western medical protocol.  I am passionate about bridging the gap between Western Medicine and Natural Health Care and strongly believe there is so much more that can be offered for people with concussions and head injuries.”

OUR PROTOCOL

Our protocol incorporates the use of the neurological exam, concussion assessment toolsFrequency Specific Microcurrent, acupuncture, cranial techniques, soft tissue and muscular procedures, diversified chiropractic methods, ultrasound, TMJ treatment, back and neck therapies, headache relief, Graston technique, neuromuscular re-education, stretches and rehabilitation and nutrition for accelerated injury healing.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent is the only treatment I know of that will remove the concussion out of the brain/body. This is vital to know, as the brain/body seems to have a stored memory of the trauma. Because of this we begin most of our treatment plans with the FSM concussion protocol as it is helpful to the treatment of any and all conditions to remove the effects of concussion from the brain. It is comparable to the act rebooting of your computer when it is acting up and not processing information effectively and correctly. “Control-Alt-Delete” is in fact what the FSM microcurrent does for our brain. It can only help and there are no ill side effects.

If I can answer any questions you may have, provide you with any information regarding symptoms, prevention, or treatment that is available please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your help in raising awareness that there is help available for these life altering and debilitating symptoms resulting from a concussion.
